Following an elite education at Stanford University and Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Hambright’s Orthopaedic career started in residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and then completed a rigorous specialized joint replacement training program through the Washington University Orthopaedics Joint Preservation, Resurfacing & Replacement Fellowship. He received many awards throughout his undergraduate, graduate, and medical education including being Valedictorian of Granite Hills High School in 2000; the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship in 2000; the Stanford Rugby Pete Kemetovich Award in 2005; the NIH Pre-doctoral Intramural Research Training Award in 2009; and the Granite Hills Alumni Golden Eagle Award, 2012. He has trained and worked at top hospitals across the country including Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, and the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. At these institutions, he has helped guide research and the advancement of Orthopaedics through multiple publications and presentations.

He started his career in South Carolina in 2017. He has cared for patients throughout Charleston and the Southeast with dedication and compassion. Recently, he was awarded 2022 Best Surgeon through Healthlinks Charleston Best in Health publication. He has come to the Charleston Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics team to build a regional center of excellence for hip and knee replacements.
